Christmas is coming! Here are some gingerbread/cookie ideas. Click on the links to go direct to the websites. I like these ideas because they are simple but very effective and fun.
Simple gingerbread house – found on Betty Crocker website. This is far easier than making a traditional gingerbread house as there is no need to try and stick walls to each other. Much easier if there is a group of children.
This is a yummy make for older children. Mini eggs are a chocking hazard so don’t use this in a toddler or preschool group. It’s over 5’s only.
All you need for this simple cooking craft is in the picture above. Shredded wheat cereal (not the bite sized shreddies) , milk chocolate, mini chocolate eggs and cake cases. If you can get greaseproof cake cases do.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave – 15 seconds at a time stirring in between melts. An adult needs to supervise this because the bowl will become hot.
Crumble in the shredded wheat one at a time. Stir until coated with chocolate each time. Only add more if you need to.
Spoon some of the mixture into the cake cases and make a slight hollow with a spoon,
Place the mini eggs in the hollow before the chocolate ‘nest’ sets.
Note: Shredded wheat is not a sweet cereal so you may want to substitute with Rice Krispies. Shredded wheat will look more like a nest!
Warning: The mini eggs are NOT SUITABLE FOR UNDER 5’s AS THEY ARE A CHOCKING HAZARD
