Homes Jesus visited

At toddler group this half term each bible story will be about a house that Jesus visited. Today I talked about the homes where we live. The craft was a collage of different types of homes and the collage I had made was my introduction.

I talked about how Jesus didn’t stay a baby in a manger (I showed a picture of this) but he grew up and became a man. He visited lots of peoples homes but they were quite different to our homes today.

The model of a Bible Times house was hidden in a bag – I explained that we were going to hear lots of stories of the homes Jesus visited – and showed the model. I explained about the flat roof and the steps at the side.

Next week we begin the stories. With older children I would have gone on to tell a story right away.

To make the house – and I’m sure you could do better – I used a shoe box with a lid and covered it with brown paper. The steps were a bit tricky – I used corrugated card from some packaging and folded it concertina style.
